Airbnb: Cleaning tips

Cleaning is the most important part of the Airbnb experience for a guest. If a guest thinks your place is unclean it will not only ruin your reviews, but they might refuse to stay there. Here are some tips to get your place as clean as possible.

  1. Don’t try and just sweep the dust under the rug. Initially, I thought that is I didn’t clean under the beds, under the rug and under the couch, it wouldn’t be a big deal. Who looks under there? Surprisingly enough, a lot of guests. Guests like to move furniture around which can cause them to be looking in strange situations. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not saying to clean behind all of the furniture every time you clean. I would say doing it once a month is more than enough.
  2. The bathroom should be the cleanest place. Finding a stray hair in the bathroom can ruin a guests experience. They like to feel that they are the first person to be staying at your property. I spend the most time cleaning the bathroom. Things like behind the toilet and under the vanity are extremely important.
  3. The kitchen is the second more important place. Even though most guests don’t much cooking in the kitchen, it is important to take your time here. The most common mistake that I found is I assumed the previous guest clean things properly. If there were no dishes on the counter or in the sink, I didn’t worry about it. However, a lot of the time the previous guest used a dish, didn’t fully clean it and put it back in the cupboard. This way when the next guest uses it, it is dirty. I always like to do a quick check of the dishes, cups, cutlery, pots, pans and cooking utensils. Just a look at the top few utensils to make sure everything is clean is all you need to do.

Always take your time with cleaning. If you have any tips that I haven’t mentioned, please comment and let me know!
